Destination: Inspiration – Penitentiary Glen Nature Center

Cleveland is booming, and it has become a hotspot for all creative junkies. Stay tuned to check out inspiring Cleveland destinations to fuel your creative energy.

candylandRemember Candy Land, the iconic, colorful, childhood game you wanted to lick right off the game board? Well, The Lake Metroparks is making your childhood dreams come true this winter.

The Penitentiary Glen Nature Center is hosting The Wild Days of Winter game, and this year’s theme is “Candy Land has gone WILD!” On a life-sized game board, players of all ages (unlike the board game for ages 3-5; although I’m not judging if you’re still playing it!) get to draw a card, move from space to space and explore nature through the year just like they did with Candy Land. Playing is free.

There will also be crafts, activity pages and scavenger hunts for attendees to participate in. Start marking your calendar with the following themed events to plan your creative holiday activities:

  • 28 – Enjoy S’mores and a Campfire
  • 5 – Discover Apples and Berries
  • 12 – Ride Trains (weather permitting)
  • 19 – Taste sweet Maple Syrup
  • 26 – Sip Peppermint Hot Chocolate
  • 2 – Learn about Honey and Bee Keeping

The Penitentiary Glen Nature Center is a destination sure to reconnect you back to your childhood memories and warm your creative heart. For even more opportunities to visit The Penitentiary Glen Nature Center, check out its other scheduled programs and events.
