AAF-Cleveland exists to shine a light a light on the individuals and organizations that make up the region’s advertising community. And we know that the brilliant, strategic work coming out of Cleveland is just the tip of the iceberg. Our 5 to 9 posts will feature work from members of the Cleveland advertising community that has been created outside of office hours. The personal pursuits. The pet projects. The labors of love.
Name: Mike Paukst
Day Job: Multimedia Artist at Adcom
How did you discover your 5 to 9 passion?
I was initially drawn to motion pictures. The craft of creating moving images that evoke an emotion was something that peaked my interest. That passion evolved into trying to create an emotion within a single still frame. My interest’s are far reaching, so I don’t focus on a single aspect of photography. From architecture to portrait photography, creating my own personal approach is a great challenge.
What inspired you?
It’s been there for as long as I can remember. Artist’s are usually inspired to create instinctively. For the most part it’s just finding the right pathway for that creativity. I feel that photography is the right challenge for my creativity. I never tire of trying to better myself in that medium.
How has membership/participation in AAF-Cleveland inspired you or your work?
I’m self-taught, but I’m lucky enough to work alongside a ton of AAF-Cleveland members who are more than happy to pass along their knowledge. We have a lot of members here at Adcom that go out of their way to share their skills and help me hone my craft. It says a lot about their commitment to our industry.
