Involved with AAF-Cleveland since: 2011. I’ve have participated with AAF-Cleveland for the past 5 years.
What do you create after your 9 to 5 job? I organize and produce the annual Cleveland Comedy Festival which consists of 25-30 comedy shows in 5 days every year in November involving 75-100 comedians from Cleveland and all over the U.S. I also organize, produce and perform in numerous stand-up comedy shows throughout the year.
How did you discover your “5 to 9” passion? What inspired you?
I’ve always been interested in comedy, whether it was attending shows in college at the old Cleveland Comedy Club where Drew Carey was the house emcee or making others laugh in college talent shows. I dabbled in comedy in my early 20’s performing at some open mics and at Hilarities when it was on W. 6th Street. But I got serious about comedy when I was going through a divorce in my late thirties and was looking for a creative outlet. I took a comedy class, met lots of great local comedians, starting performing more often and then decided to launch the Cleveland Comedy Festival in 2006. It took almost two years to get to our first festival in November 2008. Since then, we’ve grown to become a sizable event that draws thousands to our shows.
