Each month we spotlight one of our corporate members giving you the opportunity to get to know one of the many creative companies in our membership. This month we spotlight Blackbird Digital.
Tell us a little about your company and your role there?
Blackbird Digital is a full service digital marketing and media firm located in Downtown Willoughby. Blackbird was founded in 2004 by Pat Walsh, beginning as a “one-man band” working out of his spare bedroom. Almost 15 years later, we have developed into an award-winning agency that employs designers, developers and marketers to help businesses and organizations succeed in a rapidly changing digital world.
What is your company most excited about in terms of marketing/video production/communications/advertising in 2019?
The evolution of artificial intelligence and its impact on marketing through the analysis of consumer behavior.
What are some of the most exciting projects your company is working on or just finished up? Provide examples if able.
Our work with MetroHealth, Blue Star Design, and Kent State University on the Positive Peers project has been immensely gratifying. Positive Peers is a mobile app, website, support group, and public-health initiative designed from the ground up to encourage young people who have HIV to stay on their medication and reduce the risk of transmitting the virus.
MetroHealth is one of 10 healthcare providers in the United States that won federal grants in 2015 to do pilot projects proving the potential of mobile and social media technologies to address the spread of HIV in at-risk communities.
We have recently wrapped up a website for Low Spark Films, which is designed to showcase their film catalog in an understated, mobile-first interface. We feel this site is an accurate reflection of our aesthetic sensibilities, and demonstrates our regard for user experience.
What has been the most valuable take away from your AAFCLE Corporate Membership?
As part of our continued growth as a company, we felt it was important to participate in organizations like AAFCLE that advances education and networking. Ted Meltok, a Designer here at Blackbird, sits on the Student Connection Board.
