Tell us a little bit about your company and your role there.
I’m one of the founders of Purple Films. My partner, Jimmy and I have known each other for a really long time. We even had the same homeroom in high school. Our friendship was formed by the love of creating videos, a hobby that quickly turned into a way of life. Our goal with Purple is to share stories in a very authentic and meaningful way. For us, there is always a shared passion that links Purple to a brand, a personality or even a product. We want to drive viewers to action. Everything from how we film, the way that we ask questions, the voiceover, music and editing is all carefully crafted for maximum impact. We don’t do anything “easy” and there certainly is no template. Our path is very thoughtful, deliberate and unique to each story that we bring to life.
What is your company most excited about in terms of marketing/video production/communications/advertising in 2017?
We’re constantly rewarded by great stories and inspiring people. So for us, the excitement is who we’ll get to meet next, and what we might learn from their story. We’ve put together a really solid team and are poised for taking on more clients and more work at one time than we’ve been able to before. We are looking forward to growing our relationships that we already have, fostering new relationships and of course making new connections.
Video is a great way to show off Cleveland. What are some of the most exciting projects you’ve been working on or just wrapped up?
There are incredible companies all over Greater Cleveland. Recently we helped Lincoln Electric share a story about kids receiving an education in the trades instead of the detention center they were headed towards. It was enlightening to see how much of an impact this education had on those boys. It’s also great to see they’re creating authentic content in the form of Arc Magazine, rather then relying only on traditional sales methods.
Cleveland is fortunate to have some of the greatest basketball players in the world. This has given us the opportunity to work with Nike to help release the Kyrie Irving and LeBron James signature sneakers. The last project brought kids from the Cleveland Clinic together with LeBron for the newest model in the FlyEase line. This is a shoe that is bigger then basketball in a way that it gives all people the ability to put on a shoe without the complexity of laces.
What has been the most valuable takeaway of your AAF Corporate Membership?
This is our first year being part of AAF. We’re fortunate to have such a strong community built around the industry we are most passionate about. Since joining AAF, we’ve gotten to meet a great number of talented people. We look forward to meeting everyone else involved.
