AAFCLE ADDY Team Secures Judges

The AAF-Cleveland ADDY Planning Team is proud to announce the judges for this year’s competition.  Judging will take place January 19-20, 2018.  Let’s meet the judges:

EMRoutson_headshotErin Routson – Art Director, Hatchbeauty, Los Angeles, CA

Erin M. Routson is an art director, designer and writer based in Los Angeles. She has worked for Hatchbeauty, L’Oreal, Abercrombie & Fitch and Newell Rubbermaid, among others. Erin holds an an MFA in Design Criticism from the School of Visual Arts, completing a thesis on public housing policy and design in the United States, and a BS in Graphic Design from the University of Cincinnati. In addition, she is a partner in Odd Jobs Design Co. and the co-founder and producer of Basketball Party, an NBA podcast.

NormNorm Shearer – Partner/CCO, Cactus, Denver, CO

In 7th grade, Norm won a school-wide art contest with a drawing of an X-wing fighter. It wasn’t that good, really. But ever since that little taste of success, Norm has had a passion for creativity, design and advertising. Today, Norm is the partner and CCO of Cactus and several start up ventures. Mostly noted for his role at Cactus, Norm takes great care in helping his clients grow their businesses through creative problem solving and deploying ideas that bulldoze the status quo.

Eventually, Norm made more than Star Wars drawings. A graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and the Art Center College of Design, Norm holds degrees from two of the most respected creative advertising programs in the country. His work has won numerous industry awards from organizations including The One Show, SXSW, Lürzer’s Archive, Cannes, AAF, the Clio Awards, FWA and the Obies. He’s also been honored to have the opportunity to pass on his skills as an adjunct professor of advertising and design at his alma mater in Boulder.

Norm hates business books, but loves smart quotes. One of his favorites from Bill Bernbach, “It may well be that creativity is the last unfair advantage we’re legally allowed to take over our competitors.”
