AAFCLE Announces Advertising Hall of Fame Class of 2019

The AAF-Cleveland is proud to announce the addition of three new members to its Advertising Hall of Fame. This year’s class includes Rick Turner Jr., Sharon Toerek, and Lane Strauss. The AAF-Cleveland Hall of Fame honors marketing and advertising executives who have made substantial and lasting contributions to the advertising industry. This year’s inductees certainly meet that criteria.

Rick Turner Jr. is an enduring figure in the Cleveland ad industry. As an art director,
VP and studio manager he was influential in expanding the creative services of the
in-house design/production department at a global advertising agency, Griswold-
Eshleman.  After furthering his career by purchasing Artists Studios, Inc., Rick managed the outstanding talent and creativity of the studio, developing exceptional design and illustrations for numerous global campaigns.

2011.Shot-22-231x300Sharon Toerek is an intellectual property and marketing law attorney based in Cleveland, Ohio.  She has devoted her legal practice at Toerek Law to helping creative professionals protect, enforce and monetize their creative assets through counsel on copyright, content protection, licensing, trademark and brand protection matters.  Toerek is a past president on AAF-Cleveland, serves on the American Association of Advertising Agencies Legal Consultant panel and was proud to serve as the Immediate Past Chairman of the Council of Smaller Enterprises.

Lane StruassLane Strauss is a nationally and internationally recognized copywriter and creative director. Over the course of this 30+ year career, Strauss has created memorable and enduring campaigns for a number of  prominent agencies, most notably Wyse.  Since 2011, Strauss has served as Creative Director for Wyse, where he has been instrumental in the agency’s growth and creative success. In addition to his advertising work, Strauss has published two books and has served as a contributing writer for ESPN Magazine and Cleveland Magazine, among others.

Strauss, Toerek and Turner join 122 advertising legends as Hall of Fame members.

The inductees were selected by a panel of current Hall of Fame members and past AAF-Cleveland presidents. Criteria for induction include: service to nominee company; furthering industry standards; creative excellence; responsibility in areas of social concern; and service to the community and/or Ad Club.
